BOTOWN is super tight feel good soul band of multi cultural musicians performing Bollywood grooves reborn with a soul funk twist. Their genre melting sound combines the glamour of Bollywood with raw soul power.
The live performances combine the glamour of Bollywood and the charisma of the Soul legends, expect to hear music from James Brown, Sly Stone, Ray Charles & B B King alongside AR Rahman, RD Burman, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosla, Lata and many more. This band are committed to bringing the house down with every performance and yes of course they have their own troupe of sexy dancers!
The band was put together in 2009 by Ajay, a UK born musician with top-ten hits in India and who has worked with artists as diverse as Jamiroqua, Gregory Isaacs and the King of Bollywood himself – Shah Rukh Khan!
The Botown band line up features: drums, bass, Indian percussion, horn section, guitar, male & female vocals, dhol, all completing the full live Bollywood Soul Funk experience!
Since starting out in 2009, Botown have played some show stopping, sell-out nights including the Jazz Café London
The Soul Of Bollywood tour featuring Botowns debut single ‘Roop Tera’ which hit the number 1 spot on the Official Asian Download Chart in the UK asfeatured on the BBC Asian Network in October 2010 and “Jhalak” from their 2011 debut album.
